At this point, I think Turkey has more operating factories than Germany.

I am not sure there's a point to work at a German factory unless you were the bottom of the barrel in Turkey yourself. You can be sure that people like that don't get their visas approved though. It's kind of fun that to legally work in Germany as a non-EU citizen and not a refugee you need a job with the official annual wage of around 40 000 euros a year, effectively cutting off all the unskileld and 90% of the blue collar work

I imagine that factories in Germany probably need production planners, QA engineers, design engineers, industrial maintenance technicians, etc. that a lot of non-EU citizens would want to apply a work visa for, not necessarily bottom-of-the-barrel line workers.

Right but the jobs like that absolutely demand very good German, C1 level (the native speaker level is called C2, i.e. only one step above). The competition for white collar jobs is crazy, Germany has rather good laws for blue collar workers but even with those blue collar friendly regulations absolute majority of Germans still prefers to shove their kids into unis for the safe and well paid office jobs. To effectively compete with them one has to have a rather good STEM degree, a MASTERY of German and still be willing to be exploited and work for less than Germans (otherwise why the employer would bother to vouch for you and ship you from Madagascar)

Still, I feel like if you were to tell a bunch of people from middle-income countries like Turkey, Montenegro, Kazakhstan, etc. that they can earn €50k/year in Germany working as industrial/manufacturing engineers just by being good at their job and studying German to a relatively high level, I feel like you would find tons of people from lower-income families in those countries who'd see it as their ticket out of poverty and do everything possible to make sure that they would get to that position.
