What wonderful utopia is this? I get driving if you're going to get enough groceries to last a while, though.

Is it safe to walk there? Many places in the US don't even have sidewalks. If it is safe, it would be because you just aren't used to walking anywhere; the habit of walking has been beaten out of you thanks to car dependency, so even when you can walk, it feels weird. I would say force yourself to walk there at least five times, it will build the habit. And maybe get one of those Folding Shopping Carts if you want to a big shop.

Get a bike. It's cheap and you'll get to work faster with less physical effort.

It's a carbon copy of every big town in a red state, but Cincinnati is safe for its size. That's not due to administration. It's due to the fact that the climate sucks, there are no protections for working class, and the law enforcement is overly proactive. It's not attractive for young adults.
Other towns in Ohio are another story. Cleveland is a warzone.
