It is because of history of the region that Hungarians are more relevant to Romania than the other way around because you can talk about Hungarian history without mentioning Romania up until 1920 but you cannot do the same with Romanian history.

Also the fact that Hungary connects the Western Balkan and Romania to Western Europe means there are thousands of lorries on a daily basis and millions of people passing through each year meanwhile almost no person ever goes to Romania from here and most people have no idea what is going on in Romania and does not think about it at all.
