Boomers are retards, they know they are retards and they want to be retards. When my mom started using the Youtube App on her new TV, she got confused because it forces her to think of something. Her own words: "I don't want to think of something, I want to be told what to like" and "Remember when your great grandfather would sit in the dining room chair, have a cigarette and watch Dining For Dollars?". This is the limit of boomer self-actualization and critical thinking. She has a net worth of $4.5 million all of which is home equity.

Note: She did not want a new TV and had to get one because Comcast stopped supporting our legacy box and cut her off unless she came in and paid $300 for a new one. Her old Comcast bill was about $240/mo and despite only paying $65/mo for internet now, she spends about the same on Disney+ just to watch Star Wars even though we have the original DVD collection and pre-prequels VHS collection.

pic related she still has her portable sony in her bathroom

You're jelly of their wealth and self-knowledge. You'd do the same if you felt you could.

If your dad is a real boomer, he's probably in his 60-70s. He has no longer the time nor will to battle against inconveniences.
He could have paid a technician to sort it out.

They have time but not the will
think about it like a battery. The older a battery gets the shorter its cycle is before it has to recharge
Same thing for old people

Boomers get worse when they actually know basic stuff about technology, because then they start picking fights with technicians and computer salesmen.

Holy fuck this, they will spend $1000 to "save" a hundred bucks, and make a bigger problem and waste a week of their lives
