I'm learning French but I'm not gonna learn those stupid lines or marks you put on top of the letters for the accents. Not my problem.

why couldn't they just make up their own letters instead of putting marks?

J’ai aussi pris des cours d’espagnol au lycée mais j’ai tout oublié. J’aime plus le français que l’espagnol mais c’est un peu inutile dans ce pays malheureusement.

Macron est venu en Louisiane il y a quelques années pour promouvoir la langue française.

Why doesn’t English have diacritics? I think it would make sense and be easier for foreigners to learn our language.

It's not at all the same and your teacher is retarded
In French in indicates a sound change of the vowel ( for example wherher it's [e] or [ɛ]), because there's multiple ways to pronounce E.

In Spanish an accent on a vowel indicates that the stress of the word is found on that syllable in a way that is irregular compared to how the stress system is expected to work (typically it falls on the penultimate syllable of the word, if it doesn't, you use an accent to mark that). The sound of the vowel is still the same

For example El sofá is written that way to indicate it's prinounced so-FA, and not SO-fa like is typical for Spanish.

There's other uses for accents to distinguish words that are written the same but used differently, but it's not related to pronunciation at all.

Foreign languages aren’t taught until high school here. I just figured Canada did things differently and started foreign language learning at a much earlier age. Plus, English still outnumbers Spanish in every state. It’s not an official language (aside from New Mexico maybe). Meanwhile, French is the still the official and common language of Quebec

they teach French up until high school then it's no longer mandatory but you can take classes if you want. People forget it by then because most kids hate learning another language.
