Obviously modern Greeks have a higher IQ. I would bet money on that.
The smartest Greek 2500 years ago just convincingly pulled shit out of his ass.

What we know of ancient greecd was a few hundred of the smartest people writing at the peak of their multi-continental civilization, at a time when the rest of the world was still in monke mode.
Nowadays there are thousands of Greeks more intelligent than them, but those Greeks don't stand out because the rest of the world has caught up.

all of the methods of the ancient greek mathematicians seem extremely schizo. like the equation for some random thing popped into their head one day or they imagined it.

People in general used to have larger braincases (there's no singular paper on this, you just gotta look at papers of multiple periods yourself) and had a better memory for long speeches. People used to memorize Beowulf, the Illiad, Nibelungenlied, etc word by word with perfect accuracy. Now this can only be done with rigourous practice, because people are used to having all this being written down. The same sort of phenomena is being seen today where zoomers/gen ฮฑ are reliant on Google Maps instead if memorization of their towns or cities. So we moderns are missing some cubic centimeters of brain and the demand to exercise the brain as strenously.

More on people becoming more forgetful due to writing:
Socrates notices this in Phaedra, 14, 274.
>"The story goes that Thamus said many things to Theuth in praise or blame of the various arts, which it would take too long to repeat; but when they came to the letters, [274e] โ€œThis invention, O king,โ€ said Theuth, โ€œwill make the Egyptians wiser and will improve their memories; for it is an elixir of memory and wisdom that I have discovered.โ€ But Thamus replied, โ€œMost ingenious Theuth, one man has the ability to beget arts, but the ability to judge of their usefulness or harmfulness to their users belongs to another; [275a] and now you, who are the father of letters, have been led by your affection to ascribe to them a power the opposite of that which they really possess.

"For this invention will produce forgetfulness in the minds of those who learn to use it, because they will not practice their memory. Their trust in writing, produced by external characters which are no part of themselves, will discourage the use of their own memory within them. You have invented an elixir not of memory, but of reminding; and you offer your pupils the appearance of wisdom, not true wisdom, for they will read many things without instruction and will therefore seem [275b] to know many things, when they are for the most part ignorant and hard to get along with, since they are not wise, but only appear wise."
So the stupid neopagan is pedantically correct in that everybody today is more stupid, and not just the Hellenes, due to technological conveniences that make us not exercise the thoughts that grow the brain. We no longer need to memorize tens of regional dialects, sources of food and water, the names of hundreds of people in our tribes and warbands, how to make bronze, how to predict the weather using the stats, etc. that the average man needed to know or else he would be killed.

>Memory doesn't mean intelligence tho
It's not a singular indicator, hence why I also said the braincase part which also doesn't directly correlate to intelligence. But if you combine lots of weakly correlating causes, you get that positive trend like how it is when determining a disease.

doesnt matter whether you think people are getting dumber, people actually get smarter over time cuz of flynn effect o algo
its just that tech enables laziness and gives dumbasses more opportunity to express whatever their opinion is
just cuz some greeks back then had some decent ideas for the time period where everyone had the intelligence of apes doesnt mean the average intelligence was high
