I've taught a few university modules and fucking hell is it hard to get students to just fucking reading a few chapters in the book. They want everything handed to them on a plate, and guess what, that is precisely what they get IN THE FUCKING BOOK.

I'm on the exact same page as you, those filters are mostly just to make finding stack overflow pages easier. When I was a teaching assistant I told the students to do the same thing, just read the man pages and textbooks. And I finished just last semester so I was able to see how LLMs are making the students even dumber. The thing that alarmed me the most was when I was grading assignments and some araboid student had literal keyboard smashes his assignment he handed in alongside his ChatGPT generated answers. Like, right next to question 2 it'd just read something like "igoglrnengomh" with no attempt at grammar or cleaning up typos right next to the AI-generated answer. It dawned on me there that the bar is non-existant now since students can't even get weeded out anymore, because there's no way that stone chucker would have gotten so far given it was a third year course I was teaching.
