at least on doordash they don't directly show you how much the customer tipped, they just show you the total (base pay amount + tip) that you'll receive for completing the order

but you can tell when the customer probably didn't tip because the total amount will be small (usually less than $1 per mile)

to have food delivered to you from a restaurant in the US it most likely requires someone to drive at least 5 miles, and sometimes people make orders that are over 10 miles away, it's impossible to do for hours every day on bicycle
the driver is paying for his own gasoline to make that delivery for you by car

the delivery company pays the driver only a very small flat rate per delivery

if customers don't tip, you might be able to earn $7 or $8 per hour driving around, if you're lucky
and in terms of mileage would probably earn about $0.80 per mile at the most (and gasoline costs at least $0.15 per mile)

but on weekends when there's a lot of orders, and customers order from places close by and give tips, you can earn over $20 per hour and make $1.50 per mile

without the tips, no one would drive food delivery in america and the service would not exist

As somebody who has delivered this happens the majority of the times I get a good tip. Always bundled up with a no tipper and USUALLY the app tells us to deliver the food of the person who didn't tip first because at that point they have been waiting forever because nobody wanted to deliver their food.
