Who's the best 19th-20th century horror author of your country, in your opinion? Do they have good English translations of their works?
For us the general opinion is that Stephen King or Lovecraft are the best by popular appeal, although I don't like either of them all that much.
I was looking at horror lit some time ago and I was surprised at how few names there seems to be, it was always the same ones over and over, a bunch of it being thriller-adjacent, which I don't care for
I thought it'd be like fantasy, where there's dozens of names I've never heard of, maybe a few big ongoing sagas, etc.
fucking nothing
horror can potentially be as wide and diverse as fantasy, why have people not understood that?
probably Valerio Evangelisti, idk if he has english translation but probably. I enjoyed his books in high school, Eymerich was cool.
