Of course. Being a nationalist basically just means prioritising your nation i.e. your people , your ethnicity (nation comes from natio and originally means people of shared birth, i.e. is the same as ethnicity) above others.
so being a nationalist is natural and normal because we evolved to prioritise and favour those who share more gene with us over those who share less genes with us.
The only time being a nationalist would be weird is if people are nationalist for a nation-state that doesn't represent their real nation.
For example if a Kurd was an Iraqi nationalist
but for nation states with a coherent, well established national identity that represents a real ethnicity , i.e. most countries that didn't have their borders drawn arbitrarily by parties with no connection to the region then being nationalist is normal , natural and rational as a strategy to benefit your genetic evolutionary interests.
