>>212637997it is funny you bring this up, but yes lol it is. possibly the most segregated city I've ever lived in.
The actual city center, san francisco, is majority white and asian. cross the bay bridge to east bay and you are in oakland, which feels majority black / hispanic (but east bay is quite diverse and segregated as well, also a strong asian presence everywhere).
up in berkeley it's far more asian/indian due to the university, and down in fremont it is solidly immigrant chinese communities.
down in south bay you have the incredibly weatlhy communities of atherton, stanford, palo alto which are pretty solidly white, but further down south in san jose / east palo alto you get the bay area's most hispanic region with a lot of mexican immigration.
The actual city itself (san francisco) is without a doubt the best place I've ever lived. the energy there is fucking insane. there are just SO MANY smart and driven people working on the most amazing projects you've ever heard of in your life, trying every fucking day to change the world. and it's not just soulless FAANG slop like you find in seattle, it's young people just building shit. it's beautiful.
the entire bay area kind of has this energy due to the presence of berkeley and stanford. but the east bay has issues with crime and silicon valley / south bay is just kind of geriatric. san francisco is truly a special place, even in the bay area.
