>>212644169someone explain to me why she put the ESL quotes in if she's white
native englishersmen don't use the quotes if it's for hypothetical dialogue as in this case it being a general expression, we only use it if it's literally said, or if we're using """scare quotes""" to de-legitimize the term, disassociate ourselves from what's being posited, or stating we disagree or are skeptical of the presented phrase or idea.
We especially wouldn't do it if there are two hypotheticals being used in comparison, because that fits the standard saying/parable format where you just write the words out
We would also use a comma but that I can see being omitted due to it being zoomery/over a phone
But especially because it's on a phone and phone aspect, NO native english typer would ever add those quotation marks which take extra time and make the text look cringe because it's not about someone literally speaking, and the person metaphorically speaking is supposedly the same person pictured, so you would never use quotation marks for yourself either, unless as part of a conversation with someone else, or quoting yourself with a - me at the end or something.
So is she ESL like eastern european, or did a jeet write this? The unnecessary/misplaced quotes for emphasis rather than for speech is a hallmark of Indian and SEA ESL posts. But I don't get why an Indian would write it from her perspective. Could it be the Indian in the pic writing it?
The racebait doesn't interest me at all either way but the little ESL tells on stuff like this always bug me more and more the more times it gets posted.
