no, I rarely get the idea that I want to buy something besides food. when I do need or want some new item, I tend to spend sometimes absurd amounts of time researching and thinking about what specifications I want

I look at old houses for the inevitable rural half timbered castle I'm definitely 100% going to build by myself one day, trust. I know literally everything about the structure of old school wooden timber frame walls and joists, I could plan you a house like that no problem.

Been doing this for several years btw I've absorbed all timber frame content on the internet.

Not really. If I want to buy something, and I can afford it, I just buy it. If there's something that I want, that I can't afford, I just force myself to forget about it.
You'll be happier like that.

I don't feel the need to buy stuff. The idea of having stuff makes me feel depressed. I prefer to put money into an index fund.

yes but its fine because i rarely purchase anything. i spend years fantasizing about possible buys but only buy the 1 in a 10,000, sometimes overpaying for quality. but the stuff that interests me isn't very expensive. god i love having low-cost hobbies

I don't enjoy torturing myself, no. I have a friend who's just like that though, consumerism is not good for you
