no, I rarely get the idea that I want to buy something besides food. when I do need or want some new item, I tend to spend sometimes absurd amounts of time researching and thinking about what specifications I want

Not really. If I want to buy something, and I can afford it, I just buy it. If there's something that I want, that I can't afford, I just force myself to forget about it. You'll be happier like that.
