What's going on in Italy these days? Have things turned around?

They've had the same government in power for an unusually long time, my ETF tracker for the Italian economy has been my best performer behind only Germany and they even seem to be playing nice in NATO.

I'd say things are pretty stable now. Nothing major and no miracle growth like in Greece, but stability is good.

Is it because of anything Meloni has done or are conditions just stable more generally now because there's not much going on that Italy has to worry about?

Are people starting to panic about the debt? It seems like Italy has funded growth with debt and it's worked out while we're absolutely shitting bricks about it here.

They still have a long way to go to fully recover, but they are growing at a speedy rate now and repaying their debt much quicker than anticipated. Their bonds are cheaper than US bonds now lol.

>Is it because of anything Meloni has done
I wouldn't say so. Just the fact that she turned into your average centre-right politician is probably what the markets liked. The EU's coronabonds also forced us to invest into actually useful things for once.
>Are people starting to panic about the debt?
Lol no, this country is debt-addicted.

Meloni is unironically the lesser of all evils in all of Italian politics now, we are doomed if the current crop of PD ever comes into power. For our Brit friend, imagine Corbyn's Labour but worse.

I figure it's because Italian companies are starting to use shares to fund expansion rather than debt. It's nuts that Italy wasn't already doing this considering the history of banking.
