Is it true American cities are the worst in the Western world or is that just doomer-black pill speak?

Largely doomer black-pill speak. If you want to include all historically Christain countries, this'd include places like Russia and Latin America. By this logic the worst city in the western world would probably be Kingston, Jamaica, Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, or one of those war zones in Ukraine. If you want to be more narrow and only include Roman-Germanic influenced first world countries; basically just western Europe, North America, and Australia, the city with the highest poverty rate is either Detroit or Lisbon depending on year, though I'd argue that all-in-all I'd rather live in Lisbon in a bad year than Detroit in a good year.

Cape Town's a real shithole though, and NYC is MUCH nicer than you're being lead to believe, the crime rate is lower than most small towns I've personally lived in and it's so geographically big that you can literally do anything within city limits. Detroit's a god-forsaken shithole though so I'd take middle-class in Cape Town over the Detroit mansion.
