>be working post-grad in mental hospital as an assistant, trying to get experience to go to grad school
>nice old italian lady, Donna, is admitted
>overall very calm and kind, has a sweet tooth, a little out of it overall
>also experiences extreme delusions
>one day, be observing Dr B while he is treating a different patient
>Dr B is a very kind, wholesome, Mr Rogers-esque fellow, even wears the sweaters
>suddenly Donna is outside the room butt naked, slamming her tits against the window, screaming “RAVAGE ME DR B, TAKE ME NOW!”
>Dr B is mortified
>Donna has not taken her meds this week
>staff get her back to her room and convince her to take them
>very soon after the delusions and lascivious behavior cease
>Donna’s energy seems brighter and she’s more astute
>totally fine as long as she’s on the meds

that’s what convinced my mom to go to med school and become a psychiatrist. Psychiatry is fucking magic. Most of you have not seen a truly severe case of mental illness treated with medication. Meds can make a completely insane person back into a functional human, it’s astounding.

>How's the medical field in general?
Hell on earth, boiling shit, understaffed to hell and full of soviet army style dedovshchina depending on the field and who you are working with, however there are nice institutions full of very friendly people just not the huge small town size clinics
>How difficult was it for you to become a radiologist?
6 years until the master degree are the hardest, residency the easiest because you can start working more instead of cramming, needless to say I had to sacrifice my entire social life so now I am an incel posting with you here
>Did you study in a public or private university
No such thing for this field and many others, private ones are very rare I only know of LLC University
>Do you believe psychiatry and psychology are pseudo sciences for the most part?
To a level yes there are truly mentally ill people that need that type of specialised help but unfortunately I believe majority of cases including mine are not something you can just stuff yourself with pills or talk to someone for 30 minutes to cope. Not only that but having a mental health record in your medical history can be grounds for termination from the job so no way in hell I am going to one unless I start hallucinating cockroaches or something.

Not a lot of good experiences being on meds. I had two pills for anxiety that made me balloon up and gain 35 kilos.

SSRI's did nothing. Maybe they work if you are like a normalfag who gets some temporary setback and flushes them quickly. I think it's evil that we just let people to be on these for years and decades even withouth any real plan for recovery.

I always hear middle aged women talk about their anti-depressant medication with regret, like it's an abusive husband. You actually need to be off work for 2-3 months to properly detox from them if you've been on them for several years, and people can't afford that.

I tapered off slowly during 1 year, dropping dosage every few months or so. Still when I flushed the SSRI completely it wasn't good. I can't imagine when someone just cold turkeys them. Also keep in mind the medical professionals never ever tell you to quit or tell you how to do it. They are fine with you being on meds for decades.

I was given benzos a few benzos and it triggered a manic episode, I was up for three days straight and everyone said I looked like i was on meth. I rushed to the hospital after three days of not sleeping because I could feel the sleep-deprivation psychosis setting in. I asked them to give me some drug to put me to sleep.

Then I found out from the doctor "Lol yeah that's a common side effect with Benzos".

Like fuck. I was in an armchair just watching Redlettermedia videos for a week straight recovering, I was that fucked.
