I think this got me interested in the future of nu-Batman more than anything. The Penguin was a fucking fantastic show that managed to capture the "serious" side of superhero settings better than anything since the original Daredevil series and managed to put a surprisingly captivating and creative spin on the character.

In the good old Superman movies from the 70s/early 80s, his weakness would most often be the fact that he has to find ways within or around his extremely rigid morality in some way to win against enemies that give zero shits about those things. You should seriously check out the first two Superman movies. They're some of the comfiest, weirdest Superhero movies ever. If I were to describe them, they're like if Wes Anderson made Superhero movies.

I stop caring about american movies years ago.
American movies are heavily propagandized but they are so good at it doesn't necessarily feels like propaganda until you notice it and then you cant stop seeing it and you get tired of it. Is a force of homogenization and it feels culturally sterile. I know I sound like I inhale my own farts, but watching some latin American movie like La estrategia del Caracol is more mentally stimulating to me than watching something like Inception or Memento.
Not because the director of La estrategia del Caracol is smarter, or more clever, or is more technically skilled at his craft, far from it, but because it feels like the director is imperfectly passing on to you his cultural environment and his thoughts and feelings and feelings of others, something that he can't contain in his mind because he is passing on to you something bigger than himself of which he is a part of but through craft he can direct it like a river or wind at you without needing to absorb it all in his mind first and then release it processed and fully analized, I don't think it would be as good. While Memento and Inception feel like a clever person had some deep thoughts, made a scheme about then and then through very skilled craft and attention to detail is making it a visual reality.
Thats just my thoughts I needed to vent out.

Americana is difficult to describe. The only recent american film that capture this is Top Gun: Maverick. When you go the see it and Tom Cruise smiling so happily and tells how grateful he is that you're there to watch his film. And the sheer positivity and coolness from it.
