blacks in britain are from disparate backgrounds across the caribbean and much of africa, and all that binds them together in the UK is a general sense of 'blackness' and difference from the natives. because of that they seem to coalesce around american black culture and talking points and politics

This is the problem with trying to teach blacks anything. Instead of learning the facts you teach them they instead learn the emotive language and sentiment used to sell it.
