Today, I was talking to an American and learned something shocking.
He said that, strictly speaking, Turks and Greeks aren't considered white.
As a Japanese person, I honestly can't really tell the difference between someone from Turkey and someone from Sweden—they all just seemed like white people to me.
According to him, there's apparently a sort of hierarchy within white people: at the top are Northern and Western Europeans, followed by Eastern Europeans, and then Southern Europeans at the bottom.
Wow… I had no idea such a thing even existed.

I think you may need a new pair of eyes. Turks have a wide range of Mediterranean and Armenoid phenotypes, while Swedes are more strictly Europid, nearly always Nordic.

He's right by and large, although exceptions exist, like the Irish that are Southern European-tier, and the Finns, Estonians, Czechs, Slovenes, Croats, French, and North Italians (and perhaps even Hungarians) that are a bit closer to Northwestern Europe than Eastern European (Russian, Ukrainian, Romanian, Bulgarian) in terms of genetic potential. Balkans are at the bottom, particularly Albanians and Bosniaks.

Think about it this way. The Andamanese and the negrito people of the Philippines look black, but they are not black. Convergent evolution or something. We're the same species, anyway. Some phenotypes might emerge independently whitin unrelated populations.
