Does anyone else think it's crazy how westoid zoomers just brute force English as 13 year olds and learn the whole language without using any dictionary just by sheer exposure? You're not a toddler who learns languages like a machine nor an adult who's smart enough to use tools and practice methods, you just have an urge to listen to English music, play video games, watch American series and browse 4chan and somehow you learn English out of it. Meanwhile as an adult trying to learn a third language you give up in dismay after reading a sentence thaat doesn't quite make sense in French on twitter and you give up and go back to consooming English media.

Maybe this. Just compare English "What is" to French "Qu'est-ce que c'est que". Romance languages are so fucking alien.

You have to solve a math problem to express the future tense. Miss me with that shit. "Will these clothes befit my wife?" Turns into the monstrosity "Celles vêtements-là siéraient-elles ma épouse ?" , in which you have to take into account
1. the gender of clothes, it's feminine so you use celles and elles
2. Say "là" because french has such few syllables you have to add redundant ones to make it comprehensible
3. Seoir turns into siéraient, utterly nonsense conjugation unlike the simple and honest Germanic umlaut
4. You have to say the "t" in siéraient because it's followed by a mute vowel, but there are a million ezceptions like aspirated h's (mute h's that used to be aspirated, en, on, singular nouns, second person present tense verbs)
The list goes on and on. I have French fatigue.
4.

"Describes me to a t" is a perfect example of an expression for which none of us have ever looked into a dictionary for an explanation. We just heard it a million times and then our brain downloaded it and now we say it without thinking about it. Meanwhile in French I struggle to remember the word for "oak".

you messed up the the genders lol, "épouse" and "vêtements" are both masculine

the french conjugations and gender stuff are really hard to master, it really puts in perspective how simple the rules are in english.

Not often, but I think it happens more with people from countries with a weaker sense cultural/linguistic identity. For example there's this Youtoober zoomer that sounds American but then I find out he's literally Filipino. Not Pinoy-American, not hapa, just straight Pinoy and went to school in the Philippines.

Happens with scandis sometimes, particularly Swedes and Norwegians, although you can still tell they're foreign. Their accents are just a bit too "neat", like they pronounce everything a bit too well.

If you put that phrase into google search that is the most common way Frenchmen say what is. "Qu'est-ce que c'est qu'une naginata ?"
