I have no interest in short form content, I have no interest in portrait mode content, and I am morally opposed to being told what to watch by an algorithm. I only watch long form, landscape videos that I have specifically searched for or that have been uploaded by channels I'm subscribed to. I find new channels mostly through collaborations between channels or by searching a particular topic.

finding things you search for is very difficult with how atrocious the algorithm is. I wanted to see people who do cel animation, but when you look up "cel animation" the first five results are somewhat relevant then the rest are irrelevant or recycled slop. you have to just get lucky with a pull at this point. do you know how hard it is to find someone making a cel animation in 2025 while you're competing with brain rot search results? not to mention the absolutely awful video essays every queer loves making nowadays
