Apparently we dont. Judges stand central and hold comical amount of power in the entire legal proceeding. It's been a topic of discussion if we should change the system due to the risk of bias and bribing.

I think the main purpose of them is to declare the guy innocent, they can cancel out whatever the judge says so he doesn't hold all the cards I think

So what’s the point of all the entire legal system when it can all be canceled by what’s essentially vigilante activity?

>The prosecution has the burden of proof.

>The jury listens to all evidence and arguments.

>The jury then decides

>Guilty: The prosecution proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

>Not guilty: The prosecution did not prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt so they are innocent

Its a perfect fail safe in case the judge is a prick, its just werks bro

>The concept of a jury is alien to the residents of Germany despite its origins hailing from the Germanic tribes
What blindly trusting the government does to a civilization...

If you ever get sentenced for a hypothetical law that's preeminently asinine and tyrannical, just know a jury could've nullified a guilty verdict and saved you (like escaped slaves in the United States of America).

The government never flushed my head in the toilet, never beat me up for looking different, never called me names etc. Normalfags did all of this and that's why I don't want them to have ANY influence on verdict whether positive or negative

you have to find 10+ people to threaten or bribe without a single one telling on you is a LOT harder than giving a couple hundred grand to some judge
