My latest award, Medal of Sino-Soviet Friendship dated 1951.

The banner naturally says "Long Live Sino-Soviet Friendship" (spoiler but it didn't).

What do you collect in you're country? Anything at all, please share.

1951 stamped examples are extra special cause it was the year the medal was established and issued almost exclusively to Soviet military personnel actively contributing to the Korean War.

The reverse says "Presented by the People's Revolutionary Military Committee of the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China 1951"... A concise people.

Main focus is East German but I pick up other Warsaw Pact stuff if it's available and interesting.
Third Reich stuff is somehow even more cringe than GDR + more expensive.

Do you have any favorite in your collection?
The one on the far left in my picture ties in a little to the one you bought, it was awarded to chinese who served in the Korean war

They look really cool, east german stuff always seem to look good. I dont think Ill be spending that kind of money on medals though, personally I just happen to buy something when Im at events or in antique shops, dont think ive spent more than 80€ on a single medal.

Bronze VVOs can be had for 50-80, but yes, silver starts around double that and gold double again.
More if you want the original certificate with them as well.

I remember seeing my ww2 grandfather's medals in a photograph my dad showed me once.
I have no idea where they ended and 99% chance they are lost forever, several crimes against humanity might have been involved in obtaining those.

Those look quite nice for that price, I might have to look into getting new medals.
