Extremely true. The cancellation of cold war build ups has been one of the greatest blunders of our time. It's now far, far more expensive to build these stockpiles and infra up again than what it would have been to simply maintain it

The worst thing is we did spend a ton of money, it was just wasted and didn't translate into combat effectiveness. But as long as the US doesn't withdraw hastily now and it's a gradual process where the US relocates assets as Europe builds up, everything is good imo. And it seems to be that's where it's going.
