Kek. Most Chinese barely speak Mandarin. There are dozens of chinese languages that are not mutually intelligible. The unique thing is that their writing system is the same, allowing people of different languages to communicate in writing. Even written Japanese can be understood somewhat by the chinaman. Any foreigner who speak mandarin is essentially wearing a clownsuit with a huge "Scam Me" target drawn on his forehead. If you ever need to deal with a chinaman, use bazaar pidgin or a trusted paid local chinese translator.
