Actually that's a pretty good alternative. Nominal GDP and PPP tell you useful but different things. The map (GDP PPP) says that Poland's internal economy is more active than grey countries. If it was nominal GDP, it would mean that Poland's economy is more valuable internationally than grey countries, though I don't think per capita woulf be that useful.

This board is constantly full of posts about Poland becoming "rich" as if that's hard to do when you border one of the world's top economies and you're in a political union with dozens of developed first world countries that shower you with investments. Hell if Serbia ever gets its shit together we'll probably reach first world status too within a few decades purely because of our geographical circumstances. You try pulling yourself out of poverty when you're surrounded by shitholes like Iran and Syria or something. Poland being hailed as some kind of miracle is really silly because no one accounts for the advantages they lucked into compared to the vast majority of other third world nations
