It's certainly in the lower end of country-themed meme food here, my city has like 3x more japanese restaurants.

not at all. I always wanted to try Mexican food from seeing it so much in USonian media but no one in brazil knows about it.
I live in a city with 1,5 million inhabitants. As the anon said, you can't turn a corner without finding a sushi place or a pizzeria but Mexican food is nowhere to be seen

We have several Taco Bell branches in my city, and every time I went there were lines, but I think it's more something specific to here, I doubt it's consumed in the rest of Brazil.
