Mental how this region was a core part of the Roman Empire for centuries, spawned minds like Augustine of Hippo, Septimius Severus , Hannibal , Tertullian etc. but went Islamic and remained a shithole forever.

Didn't even mention the early Alexandrian church fathers which is a shame since Origen was pretty cool too. Guy cut his own willy and testicularii off because he couldn't stop gooning. Also original Monasticism came from here but very few other than the Orthodox kept the full version (going out alone into the wilderness to live in a cave away from everyone)

North Africa was a barren wasteland for centuries before Arab rule. What inventions/great works of Science and Philosophy did North Africa produce in the 500 years before the Arab invasions?

You literally haven't even read the Wikipedia article about Egyptian history let alone a book lol. I bet your shitty schools don't even teach the history of the region.

Egypt was an even more significant breadbasket under the Roman's thoughbeit, producing most of their grain. As the other anon mentioned it was a key urban centre for philosophy and later Christianity for the Mediterranean world. Yet once it became mahometan, doomed to permanent irrelevance like Tunisia, Morrocco, Algeria, etc. really makes one ponder how such a foundational civilization as Egypt became a backwater after being so important for millennia...

The Greeks wiped out Egyptian civilization and the Romans reduced it to a shithole. By the time the Arabs arrived, there was nothing left. You're too retarded to ever read anything about Egyptian history

genetically: majority berber with some arab
linguistically: majority arab* with some berber

*maghrebi arabic dialects aren't mutually intelligible with middle eastern arabic
**this excludes egypt which are their own thing entirely
