My family runs a pharmacy business, and at one point we had around 35 employees. During a financial crisis, we were forced to start laying people off. At the time, I was only 14, and there was a 21-year-old female employee who started flirting with me and even tried to get close to me romantically all in an effort to avoid getting fired. She told me she was the only one working in her family, supporting both of her sick parents, and begged not to be let go. It was a shocking and surreal situation for someone my age.

Now, sadly, the business is nearing bankruptcy. By the end of 2025, it’s expected to be completely shut down. It’s heartbreaking to see it come to this.
