Their navy and air force are already massive and get significantly more practice than, say, the Royal Navy and RAF in day to day steaming and scrambling to intercept chinese/russian flights poking the ADIZ (brits obviously have combat experience and benefit from the lack of a language barrier when it comes to international cooperation, but are very small fleet-wise), they're just hamstrung by a comically slow and cautious civilian leadership.
