cafettiera is a french press, you put hot water into it
the moka pot is for cooking it goes directly onto the hotplate

you cannot use expresso powder in a cafettiera because it will seep right through the plunger
you have to use expresso powder in the moka pot because that's why there is a seperation between the water and the upper chamber, you can use it for regular coffee but it defeats the purpose

I bought a moka pot and while there are some beans that I enjoyed with it, I think the moka pot is too strong without the flavor profile of espresso. It just tastes like stronger drip coffee IMO. The best non espresso coffee maker is probably the french press.

the difference is pressure but it uses the same kind of espresso powder
an actual espresso forces water at high pressure into the powder, the moka pot just uses the steam to cook it
