These maps are based on speculation, that stem from cultural & racial prejudice. The idea that Mexico is a "warzone" comes from the stereotype of the uncivilized savages that is unable to govern themselves.

There is no scientific method of determining the "cartels' territories" since drug traffickers are not a state-military i.e. they dont operate on the basis of centralized authority or a command. Thus they have no concept of territoriality.

Drug traffickers are more like clans or families. Their violence is of a rhizomatic nature, i.e. settling petite scores & grievances, not on military-territorial basis.

I have never met anyone nor hear anything about food, culture, or whatever from most of those states. I'm convinced that only like 10 states are inhabited. If you ever met a Mexican there's a 90% chance they're from Sinaloa.

I used this map to determine which central Mexican municipalities are farthest away from cartel activity (ie not bordering cartel territory, even disputed);
Querétaro
* Ezequiel Montes Municipality
* Tequisquiapan Municipality
Southwestern Hidalo
* Huichapan Municipality
* Chapantongo Municipality
* Tepetitlán Municipality
* Tezontepec de Aldama Municipality
* Tula de Allende Municipality
* Tlahuelilpan Municipality
* Tetepango Municipality
Northeastern Mexico
* Soyaniquilpan Municipality
Southern Puebla
* Caltepec Municipality
* Zapotitlán Municipality
Northwestern Oaxaca
* Santa Catarina Zapoquila Municipality
* Concepción Buenavista Municipality
* San Juan Bautista Valle Nacional Municipality
* San Pedro Yólox Municipality

Here I colored that shit in.
I didn't know what the grey municipalities represented, so I counted them as disputed. If I didn't you'd have MUCH more municipalities in southern Puebla and Northwestern Oaxaca.

Using a 2020 census from economia, of those municipalities the one with the highest population is Tula de Allende with 115,107 people, while the one with the lowest population is Santa Catarina Zapoquila with a total of 403 people. The second lowest is Concepción Buenavista with 752.
There are small towns and villages with more people than these two municipalities. I kinda doubt anyone living there has even heard of 4chan.

Oh, and the second highest is Tequisquiapan with a population of 72,201. Couldn't even have two that made it to six digits.
