Cant exactly pinpoint the source but among my new england christian family i learned that public displays of affection, emotional outbursts, etc were unacceptable. Nothing overtly about sex you just apply that to sex.

Personally i think it could also be that many american mothers get bfs after divorcing their husbands (ur father).
