No US, no France either. Both are notoriously self-sufficient countries. This ranking is ass.

In what regards? The US imports a ton of food and I can assume France does too. Self-sufficiency doesn't mean "can reroute all agriculture and self-supply" because no country can do that in regards to going full hermit mode.

In that we export much more than we import.

You'd lose that bet. We grow mainly corn because it's a very multi-use and efficient crop, and is also good feed for livestock.
But really we can grow nearly anything we want in some climate or other here.
This graphic just shows current allocation. It's not like Vanuatu and Paraguay would keep growing peanuts to that extent if they stopped exporting, they'd grow more corn to produce more dairy, and fish more.

The veggies one is a bit iffy, I can't think of a single one we import.
The fish one is right, we import a lot of fish from Portugal, Norway and Chile, since cod and salmon aren't a thing here.

I thought we would have been sufficient in legumes too, and maybe a little bit more in fish, but the roaches do illegal fishing practices that has destroyed any place of the Aegean they fish in, so I guess I'm not too suprised.

I's weird ranking. Oman is less self-sufficient than Laos, but it's higher in the ranking? Why?
And many other countries are like that too in this top.
