I recently got done with my first year teaching. I can confidently say that teaching is adult day care for middle aged married women. Their husbands usually all make good money so they just do this because they're bored. They have no passion for the job. I guess if salaries were higher more passionate people would choose it as a career but this is where the mindset is at the moment.

I don't know how Canada ranks as one of the top countries with the best schools and best student scoring on standardized tests.

Teachers here weren't particularly stellar, even though kids here aced tests pretty easily. Must be other countries having REALLY shitty teachers and students.
