Swedes generally travel to tropical warm countries to escape the shitty climate here.
Thailand and shit like my parents.
They have gone to Thailand every winter for 37 years.

Your parents are pretty cool. My parents only think North America and Europe are safe places to travel. They would never travel somewhere as exotic as Thailand.

They unironically think America is safer than Japan or South Korea

16e is really calm compared to a lot of arrondissements, which makes for slightly better quality of life than the rest of Paris. I like it better than the others arrondissements in which I've lived in so far (5, 12), but overall I prefer the alpine village I came from. Rent is around 1200โ‚ฌ/mo for a 30m2 cuckbox in Auteuil.

Chicago was kind of a struggle for me in terms of noise and congestion. I doubt Iโ€™d fare well in the most visited city in the world. The apartments look nicer than the ones in New York City though.

Yeah. Thailand is so popular among Swedes that they have entire areas with nothing but Swedish hotels, restaurants and stuff. A lot of boomers never actually explore anything in Thailand, they just stay at the beach near those resorts.
Picrel is one of my parents favorites.

Nothing is going to happen to you unless you act like a clueless moron, but it's not like I almost never go in the tourist areas, so don't take my word for it. I am quite fond of the 5e, especially the Jardin des Plantes. I take my girl there to lay on the grass, and then we go on a walk along the Seine towards Notre Dame, watch the setting sun and, when I used to live there, make passionate love in my tiny mansarde... what a life this is

What else am I supposed to do with my money? Drive 16 hours to some national park with no amenities and sleep on the ground? Maybe go to Vegas to gamble and spend $32 on a cheeseburger.

No thanks. I'll be spending my vacation and excessive disposable income in Slovenia and Croatia this October. I need a month long break from America every 2-3 years.
