This is only half true, they are a paradox of loving and hating themselves. They are nationalistic and defensive of India despite begging to become uberslaves in literally any other country. We've had Indians since the 60s and I genuinely get along with them pretty well.
I know anything even moderately pro-Indian seems like it's coming from an Indian these days but that's been my honest perception of them.
My first boss was Indian (fled East Africa as soon as the blacks took back control from Britain) and he was actually praising the British for how they were such effective colonial administrators.
These fresh off the boat Punjabis these days are a different species though.
