How come they have culture but the North doesn't?

I never understood how Americans always look down on Southerners while at the same time everytime they want to picture something uniquely American it's always with Southern characteristic, or when they want to exaggerate their Americanness they jokingly imitate a southern accent, etc
I mean it's clear they subconsciously perceive the South as being the soul of the USA but at the same time they also push it away. I don't even know what northern culture is like.

The north has culture but the south is more recognisable to non-Americans. Though New York/New Jersey's culture is highly recognisable too.

I absolutely guarantee you, as someone from the south, southern culture is dying and has already significantly receded.

If you go to Atlanta or Charlotte (two of the main southeastern cities), you will find absolutely no southern character. But even in smaller cities, southern culture has receded and most southerners under 30 do not have a southern accent.

that's crazy. I've heard that people in the West mostly came from the North too. I wonder why migrants almost solely settled in the North and why the West was almost only settled by Northerners. No one seemed to come in or leave the South, besides the blacks who left it en masse
