sorry, when i make dinner i expect it to me done in minutes. charcoal are for outdoors grilling where you have the whole evening, if you dont just grill it over open fire made from wood from around you, not for a balcony dinner. i got a gas grill there.

Manoel, this is part of the building's project, when you see a balcony with a bbq pit like this, every balcony has one. They are connected throught a chimney going behind the thing, there's zero smoke in any balcony when they are used, including the one doing the bbq.

It's a pretty neat thing and I've never seen in any other country, while here pretty much every building built in the last 20 years has it.

In my state, charcoal grills are banned in all multi-unit dwellings due to increased fire risks. Gas is where its at.

This is a really bad idea. Charcoal have embers and soot. Embers can fly out of the oven and ignite flammable indoor material. Soot can accumulate in the flues or chimneys if they are not regularly cleaned, which then also turn into a fire or smoke hazard. The smoke will also pollute the air around the neighbourhood, just like wood fireplaces in old houses. Charcoal should only be used outdoors in a wide open space.
