Not true. I've been to Mexico plenty of times and they were all genuinely friendly and welcoming. The only time I had anyone give me crap was my first trip to Mexico City where I had a hard time adjusting to the elevation so some of the locals were making fun of me but even then it was more in jest than a vicious attack.
