It's economic. DPP wants to shut down all nuclear power plants and instead import foreign LNG, which would make energy prices rise considerably. Every other smaller party is forming a coalition with the KMT to shut down every proposal by the DPP for the past 6 months. They thought a recall election would make things different, but they instead alienated more people and galvanized the opposition parties.
