I don't think they're fully convinced of the standard justifications for it, be they religious or secular. Christians don't have to circumcise their children, and the health benefits can be gained by simply washing your dick. I think this causes them some mental anguish. Why was this done to them if it's not necessary? But to avoid being among the last circumcised men in America who have to face a culture that views their scars as weird, or evidence of barbarism, they have to justify doing it to future generations somehow

Because most of the world does it for religious reasons while we don't. So there's a lot less justification for it. Most Anglosphere countries actually used to do it until like 30 years ago, but their health systems usually dropped it from being covered for free because it wasn't deemed medically necessary. Here we have 50 states all with different insurance guidelines so it's kinda hard to just drop it here.
And coincidentally enough, because I know people will mention it, it wasn't jews that made it popular here, it got popular in the late 1800s by Puritans. (And was practiced by people who fucking hated jews) And that got carried on over time because "it's cleaner" and "looks better"
