Are boomers scared of self-checkout iyc?
Anonymous Poland No.213397144 [Report]
>>213396951 (OP)
yes and that's a good thing because every time a boomer tries to deal with this hellish machine he'll stop the queue for the next 20 minutes, not being able to figure out how to find peanuts in the base
actually i'd advocate for only allowing self-checkouts to be used by people under 50

I don't like self checkout because then you need to carry your passport on you which is a hassle and annoying. Last time I got held in Walmart's questioning because I forgot my passport so they couldn't match my name to my debt card on the receipt.

How about these ?
I always see boomers stick their hands into it despite the clear instructions and than just stare when the machine rejects the bottle
Or they just throw the bottles in and block it
Anonymous Australia No.213397359 [Report]
Not so much scared of it. Just usually either frustrated by them as a concept, or badly confused by them.
I hear boomers complaining about how there aren't enough cashiers manning the other registers. I kind of wish somebody would, just to keep the boomers out of the self-serve checkouts. It's so much faster when they're out of the way.

I want self-checkout only grocery store

A soft-ban on boomers if you will, so I never have to see another demented old freak slowly buy bananas with half cent coins that he counts before the cashier

We've just started getting these and I've never used them

I've heard that you get no money at all from using them, like it isn't even worth the time of putting the bottles in the machine

boomers buy alcohol with every shopping trip which many stores (maybe most non-supermarkets) don't let you buy at self checkout
the ones that do, alert a staff member to come and check your id when you beep an age-restricted item

what did you do to bottles before that, throw them in the fireplace or a nearby ditch?
finland had bottle return machines since i was a babby

Glass ones you bring them back to the grocery store to buy the beer for normal price, without the bottle markup
Plastic ones I still just throw them in the garbage

there's a shop like that in my area but it's a bit far and i never went there

seems to be an independent thing and not part of the big grocery store chains

That is a boomer magnet here, especially for the alcoholic type, they seem to be the best at shoving the bottles in without any issue

here you pay a deposit for every bottle you buy, so it adds up
for my family, we get about 20 euros back each month

local store in my bumfuck nowhere rural area is completely self serviced most of the day, they sell beer and snus but you have to ID yourself to a wagie and register your finger print the first time the you can self checkout every time after.

I hate trolley boomers at the self checkout.
They take forever and ruin the queue.
Although sometimes it's not their fault since the supermarket understaffing the registers on purpose

This isn't believable because like half of Americans don't have a passport. Probably like 80% of Walmart customers don't. Please change the post to "Real ID™" for next time.
