honestly i dont get why Slovakia's capital isnt more impressived architecturally considering it was back in the day the capital of Hungary
was it because the communists demolished a lot of it or are there other reasons? even Kosice looks more impressive

I can't agree, imo Bratislava is actually underrated, by how it is described on the internet I'd think that it's some communist shithole with nothing else but commieblocks but in fact it has a cute old town with gorgeous buildings.

yeah but the old town part is pretty small, and there are tons of commie blocks in the city centre unlike hungary and prague

>yeah but the old town part is pretty small
because already in the 19th century it was a mid-sized, not very relevant town
> and there are tons of commie blocks in the city centre unlike hungary and prague
because Bratislava was developed rapidly by commies as the second capital of Czechoslovakia

how come commies allowed to build this neighborhood just by the Austrian border? im pretty sure people could just jump from their balconies and reach Austria this way

let's assume Uncle Sam wants to do a favor for your country and allows you to return one of the following cities to Hungary
>Pozsony
>Kassa
>Ungvar
>Kolozsvar
>Temeszvar
>Ujvidek
>Maribor

you can choose one and only one
which one?

Fun fact, that bit of land (Pozsonyi hídfő) was still part of Hungary after trianon, we only lost it in the peace treaty after WW2.

that's a very modest dream
but i can understand that the residents of the Hungarian side of this city suffer because the old town was left on the Slovak side and they have to live in a communist commieblock hellhole

otherwise, Koloszvar if nothing would change, meaning the development of the city and life quality

If I had to pick a city from Romania it'd be Nagyvárad (Oradea). It's historically important and also literally on the border unlike Temesvár or Kolozsvár

there is a Hungarian castle (ruins actually)
last time I was there I spotted several cars with HU plates so I believe this place still bears some significance for your national consciousness, especially that afaik it was the northernmost point of the St. Stephen's crown

It hugely fucked up the countryside on the Hungarian side economically when the villages on the plain were cut off from it. Although nowdays there's no ethnic argument to be made about it rightfully belonging to Hungary.

Because unlike the lies that you were told by your neofeudal capitalist slave-drivers, people actually liked living under communism and didn't want to suffer under the dictatorial power of the Western workplace in a land without basic workers rights
