Did you know that adoption is mandatory in Germany?

What do you mean? Like that a kid has no say in whether his adoptive parents adopt him? Or that people are forced to become adoptive parents, if they interact with a kid long enough? Or that you automatically have to adopt any child dropped on your doorstep? What?
