i wonder why bulgaria isnt as developed as Romania
we had the same starting point since 1990(it was even worse for us), we entered the EU at the same time yet Romania nowadays has actual industry in making cars, weapons, ships and basically anything else, while bulgaria isnt known for making anything
is it because of population, geography or incompetence from the bulgaria politicians?

Yes, Romania has more larger cities, which are economic engines.
Romania
Bucharest about 2.3 million, Cluj, Iasi, Constanta, Timisoara, Brasov, Craiova, Galati about 200-300k
Bulgaria
Sofia about 1.5 million, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas about 200-300k

in PPP net we roll them lel
and its not just that, their villages look abandoned while ours are alive and look good in comparison, same with the cities
compare for example Cluj Napoca and Plovdiv, the cities have a similar population, Cluj Napoca will also soon have a subway

This metro will never be built, it's a PR stunt. Romania is now on the verge of bankruptcy because of such idiotic ideas and even the EU is already fed up with them so they imposed austerity on them and Romania has to keep their fiscal policies tight.

Don't know but I remember the old Bulgaria from early 2010's. Roads were shitty, train stations were falling apart then EU poured lots of money and fixed things. Bulgaria would have been worse than Georgia if they were not in the EU.

They'll be lucky if this is just PR and they don't build anything. There is no point in a metro unless it is a really huge megalopolis.

Bulgaria was the most favored state in the eastern bloc by the USSR, the entire economy was on gibesmedats
Romania by contrast had to develop their own economy and in concert with the unpopularity of Ceausescu, this led to actual innovation that was applied after the fall of communism

I thought that was Moldova, because it was one of the few places in the Soviet bloc that had amazing grapevines and they were exporting it to the rest of the Soviet world making crazy money.
Then when all fell apart they lost their main source of income and became today's Moldova
