I just understood that westerners will never consider me one of their own just by the virtue of having white skin, blue eyes and blonde hair as long as my country doesn't have an efficient innovative economy with an average wage exceeding 2000 eur/month. That's a real blow in my face.

I know in all places there's classism and regionalism, eg America with it's flyover states. I always thought other Europeans thought down on eastern europe (and southern europe) but still essentially accepted them as part of The West.

Being recognized as western is the ultimate goal of every eastern European. It's the same like Koreans wouldn't want to be considered South East Asia or part of the Sinosphere.
