>>213582235 (OP)The two main metros are Charlotte and the Triangle (Raleigh/Durham).
Triangle: Has 3 major universities, one in Raleigh, one in Durham, one in Chapel Hill. Its main employment center is an office park located between those 3 cities and has a lot of tech jobs. But the Triangle doesn't have a real city center, and Raleigh's downtown is pretty disappointing. Stereotypical resident: 31 year old immigrant from India who lives in Cary and works a tech job in the Research Triangle Office Park.
Charlotte: Finance/corporate city. Feels very sterile, bunch of apartments and towers built in the past 15 years, but it has much more of a city vibe than the Triangle. People from around the country live there, very few people you'll meet are actually from the city. Stereotypical resident: 26 year old former frat bro turned finance bro from some SEC, ACC, Big Ten university who is an alcoholic.
There's also Asheville, which is touristy and a 'hipster' vibe but it got kind of yeeted by a hurricane. Wilmington has a bunch of boomers who moved near the beach. The rest of the cities are kind of decaying.
