It's weird that people don't put ketchup on pasta in some countries. It's the most typical thing to put ketchup on here together with hot dogs. Even the dictionary mentions it.

Tomato sauce is perfectly fine but ketchup completely ruins the pasta and basically anything except french fries which are designed to be tasteless sauce vehicles anyways. To be fair American ketchup is a vinous, watery sludge and the sugary taste completely overpowers everything else in any dish, so the experience may vary iyc.
