Going back to cubits and spans would be hilarious though

Reality is where "HURR LET'S MAKE EVERYTHING 10 BECAUSE WE HAVE TEN FINGERS" breaks down.

Except that's subjective too. I start sweating at about 80F even when shirtless, with 0 physical activity and I wear shorts as low as 40F. For other people that I've known 80F is shorts and 40F is down jackets

>60 seconds in a minute
>60 minutes in an hour
Ancient greek mathematics measured a circle in 360 degrees, clocks are round and have an hour hand and a minute hand, 60 divides nicely into 360, therefore a quarter of a second/hour is a quarter of the way through the rotation of the minute/hour hand.
> 24 hours in a day
>365 days in a year
24 is a multiple of 6 just as 60 and 360 are, meaning one hour of a 24 hour day is 1/12th rotation of the hour hand, 24 hours of a full day are two rotations of the hour hand, meaning that the day is split into two rotations of the clock, am and pm, meaning ‘ante meridian’ (before noon), and post meridian (afternoon).

>10 years in a decade
‘dec’ is the latin prefix for 10

As you can see, the previous measurements are far less arbitrary than the American measurement systems.

Comparing someone's height, which changes by person, to freezing point of water at 1 atm, is something only American can do.
>Americans saw a guy who was 2 m tall and said "let's make that 6 feet and 6.74 inches"
That's even more stupid.
